Clown with heavy breathing

Hello all,

I added a couple new clowns to my tank, and they seemed to be doing great. It has been 3 days now, and one of them seems to be breathing heavy compared to all the other fish in the tank. Any ideas? Does not seem to be scratching on anything, but is swimming around much more than any other fish in the tank. Fins all look good, but his main dorsal fin is not fully extended. Thanks for all the advice!

here is a little vid I took of the clown.

Thanks for any advice!

If you right click on the image and open in a new tab the video plays for me....let me know if it does not work for you. And yes it takes a second for the [?] to show up

It could be behavioral, stress, disease...all you can do at this point is watch carefully for symptoms, dots, redness, skin sloughing, stringy poop etc to help define the issue. Is it eating? Have you considered using a qt for new arrivals?

Nice cube!

Hello,

Thanks for the reply! I have been watching him very closely. He is a Black Ice Clown and do not want to loose him! He is eating fine. When I feed everyone gets involved. I would love a qt tank for new arrivals, but just don't have the room in an apartment. Will definitely have one when we move next year!

And thanks! I love my cube!

Ok, so I have been watching him the past few days, and now he is starting to stop feeding with the tank mates....actually both my clowns have stopped. I still do not see any redness, dots, skin sloughing, stringy poop, or anything else. It has been a week, so do you think they are still acclimating to the tank? I do have a male lyretail anthia that is a bit aggressive at feeding times, but he leaves the clowns alone and just chases the female anthias.

Thanks again for any advice!
