Clownfish and Frogspawn

actually, that would be the frogspawn hosting the clownfish. I've not heard of it [not to say it doesn't happen]. My clowns never did cozy up to it or the ancora, probably due to the sting, which would annoy them

Good point on who is hosting who. Reason I ask is that one of my clownfish seems very interested in frogspawn I put in tank. I don't have an anenome. The clownfish keeps hovering close to it, and continues to make subtle attempts to rub up against it.

Mine host a powerhead, and not the beautiful GBTA... It's freaking sweet... NOT. :furious:

Seriously though I have seen them in toadstools, frogspawn, hammers, and even anthelia and xenia.

Mine hosted in some Zoa's in the old tank. They prefer frogspawn in the current tank.

who is hosting whom ;) OK, I'm a grammar nazi. I'm usually not this annoying. Must be all the aiptasia threads and the Rosie O'Donnell comment.

Scott - great pic! I wonder, do they develop the same immunity that they do with anemones, or do they just tolerate it?

My frogspawn hosts my clowns. For some reason, they didn't go for the BTA that's in there. They do love the frogspawn, though.

It can irritate corals to have clowns in them. Frogspawns are usually hardy enough to overcome it. You may also see some small black spots on your clowns from being stung by the coral. I don't think it bothers the clownfish enough to leave their host, though.

That is cool! Great pics. Definately looks like the clownfish in my tank has takin' a liking to it. Thanks for info and pics! :)

Mine won't leave my goniopora alone! So I guess it's whatever they like. I have 4 anemones and they don't care about any of them!

I had one that lived in a toadstool. I later removed the toadstool, and it went for some green mushrooms nearby.

About a year ago I added in another (better Tyre) toadstool that is now big enough for him (actually, now "them") to host, but they stick with the shrooms. little do they know, I'm about to upgrade tanks and in the process I'm removing all of the mushrooms they host now.:blown:

My wife wants me to get a BTA though, so they have a propper home. ;)

I've got a RBTA about 2' from the Frogspawn and the Clowns have never given it a second glance.

I was just in that thread with the Rosie O'Donnell comment.

:lolspin:

The 2 Frogspawns I put in gives them an option. Good to have an option. :) They seem to be leaning towards the brown one. Even though it is close to flow of powerhead. The clown keeps getting swished around swimming up to it. Bless its heart.
