Clownfish, Anemones and Clown Trigger

I have a 400 gallon tank with lots of tangs (11 of them) and am thinking of adding a baby Clown Trigger. I know they are aggressive, indeed I have an Undulate Trigger alone in another tank. However, I have heard quite a number of cases where the Clown Trigger, if brought up in the same tank from a baby, can turn out to be quite compatible.

BUT I also have, in the same tank, a large malu Anemone and a pair of Clownfish.

Will the Clown Trigger steer clear of the Anemone, for fear of being stung. And therefore, as they live within it, will my Clowns be safe do you think?

Your views would be most welcome........especially if you have experience of these fish

Thanks

I haven't had an issue with that combo, only change is a 135 gal tank and one clown fish. 2 years with a carpet and the only thing the trigger would do is snatch the shrimp meat from it.

Sounding positve so far then! Does he chase the clownfish, and the clownfish hides in the nem, or has he totally left him alone?

Hi Philfish I'm a total newbie to salt and I have been researching the same possibility; here is a link to another fishkeeper who is keeping Clonfish/Clown Trigger and Anenome together he also has some Mushroom Corals that the clown leaves alone..

Can I ask what special requirements do Anenomes require in the tank....special food etc or are they just oppertunistic feeders....I was also warned that if the Anenome should die in your tank you would get a huge NO3 spike plus a load of toxin in the tank that would be certain death to your other inhabitants...this from an LFS worker who was trying to sell one to my friend....

Any chance of a pic of your tank Phil.....you don't have a clown Tang do you I am thinking of geting one for the Trig tank...
