clownfish breeding?

I have a pair of false percs. An orange/white and black/white. I recently gave the clowns an anemone and they've been paired ever since the tank started.

(I don't have any pictures currently I'm at work)

But I have noticed my female clown (orange) has started bulging slightly and she's yellowing a little bit on the bottom. Is she carrying eggs or what is this?

I'll post pictures tonight when I'm off work.

You won't be sure till she actually lays the eggs. Just keep an eye out especially on the male because if they lay in a spot you can't see then the male will be there because he stays next to the eggs 24/7

They will lay when they are ready. Even if they lay eggs, it will takes several spawns before they get use to it.

I would try to get a fine net box and put it in one of the top corners with the clown fish in there

Why would you do that? Not advised. Clowns can be very skittish when it comes to breeding and laying. Moving them like that can stop them breeding for months.

Let the first couple clutches go. They will probably eat them, especially if underfed. Taking care of a clutch can take a bit of energy. Feed 5 times a day for breeding pairs. They will eventually get in the groove and will be laying all the time. Just use a clay pot or tile for them to lay on. I like the clay pot as you can just put your finger over the hole in the bottom and when you take it out the eggs will stay wet (unless they like to lay on the outside of the pot).

+1 yes sometimes even a water change or a rock/ clay pot/ pvc tubing that has slightly changed position can affect their mood.

And for your female having a swollen belly ... She could be just a fatty like mine always were... There was only a slight difference between their regular well fed self and their laying shape. It's mostly the behavior changes that are tell tale.

As per fishy boy's advice...I get the feeling this may not work. The fry need lots of rotifers for the first stage of feeding, and then you can start experimenting with artemia/otohime(a fry feeding brand).

Fat fish can mean eggs, but it could also mean a swollen liver or other organ. How often are you feeding, and of what?

If you've oredered your zooplanction growing kit yet and looked at the filter screen to harvest Rotifers, you'd know that a net box wouldn't keep the food in . Plus up top would seem like too much light for the fry...

Unless you have a 35 micron sleve box i dont see how it will work, and most nets are to big to hold the fry in. I would like to see your setup, not saying your wrong but it isnt something practical
