Clownfish dying of old age or?

I have had this clownfish for 5 years. He was an adult when I got him, so he is older than 5 for sure. He is a true percula misbar. I noticed this morning he was laying on his side in the tank. He's still alive, but laying on his side. The other fish would not leave him alone, so I scooped him in a net and he's sitting peacefully towards the top. He still has some fight in him, but I think it's a matter of time.

The only new addition is a blue tuxedo urchin, apart from that, there's been nothing new for the past two years. No fish have any other signs, or are struggling any way. The urchin was QT'd for several weeks in hypo and continues to be fine.

The clownfish is losing color across his whole body. He is not breathing heavy, but as I mentioned losing color everywhere.

My only thought is that he is just old, but I don't want something else to be the cause when I can be preventative and help the others. I don't believe it to be anything else, but figure I should check with you experts!

As an update - I put food in the tank and he went crazy in the net trying to get it. I released him to see what he'd do. He tried to catch food and swam all over, but he was swimming in LOOPS! Poor guy. I netted him again, gave him a two shrimps in there and he did not eat them. :-(

Unfortunately she didn't make it. She died around 130pm CST. No one else in the aquarium is showing any signs of anything so far, so I have to assume it was of old age.

Clownfish can love for over 30 years. I highly doubt it was old age. Sorry for your loss though.

I haven’t been on the site in a long time... but I was searching to see how old clownfish live. Your post came up. My clown is 14 ( almost 15). Sorry for your loss
