Clownfish help

Knighthawk

New member
Hello all,

I've had a new clownfish in the tank for a week now and noticed some discoloration on the back half of him

Tank parameters are

Salinity 1.024
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10
PH 8.2

There is one other clown in the tank and he's been doing fine. Both are eating regularly, I feed a mix of mysis, brine and formula one flakes.

Any help would be much appreciated. IMG_0171.jpgIMG_0172.jpgIMG_0175.jpgIMG_0176.jpgIMG_0177.jpg

Any uncovered power heads in the tank? Not that it needs a screen but kinda looks like something harder than just a fight.

Forgot to mention they fought very briefly on the first day they were in the tank. No locking jaws or anything just circling each other and nipping at fins.

The power head is covered but he does like to go up there at night and sleep. It's a hydor 425.

From fighting or not, it looks like some heavy scratches.

Make sure you put new fish in QT for about a week to observe parasitic problems such as ich, velvet"¦ these look like white dots/areas on fish bodies and is highly infectious. (Just some tips😉)

I would suggest to put him in a separate hangon box or QT for observation also because the scratch might cause fungus/bacteria infection, look out for these too.

After you find out what caused it, then research related solutions to treat him. After he recovers, put him back.

It's only really noticeable when he is curled up from swimming. When he is straight in the water you can't even see it.

Is there any way he could of brushed up against my hammer coral and caused this?
