Clownfish hosting wrong thing!

Hi..today I bought a rather large piece of Torch coral and within an hour my clownfish mated hair decided to host it. Most of the tubes closed up but one is wide open and the clownfish does not want to leave it. I am wondering on what to do? I don't want my expensive coral to die because of a clownfish. Will the torch ignore it and continue to thrive? or do I need to buy an anemone..I don't really want an anemone yet because my tank hasn't been up for a sufficient amount of time I think.

Just an update..it appears that the other tubes are slowly opening back up even with the clownfish around. The clownfish so far doesn't appear to be to aggresive with the Torch coral.

They wont harm it, as a matter of fact they will do all they can to ensure its safety (which mine decided to nip at me everytime i put a finger in the tank)

Yay! I am a happy parent then. I just would hate losing such a beautiful looking piece of coral . Thank you!

UPDATE: My torch hasn't extended. The clownfish is still on it. Should I be worried? How long does it take for the coral to get comfortable and extend its tentacles?

could take a few days or so for the torch so get used to the clown.
my clowns have hosted xenias, powerheads, torches, frogspawn and the bubble tip anemone.

the torch will be fine as was said the clown will help out the coral more than harm it so give it a few days and it should open right up. heck my clown hosts in my mushrooms and loves it. never touched the anemone when i had it.

Great. Thank you. I thought the torch would either like it instantly or be upset until the clown leaves. I will give it a few days. I rather have them host in the torch instead of having to go buy an anemone which Im not ready for.

I had a clown that decided to host an open brain that I had. The brain's tissue started to recede and I soon saw skeleton. Moral of the story--if the torch doesn't seem to be able to appreciate the constant attention the clown gives, you might want to relocate the torch or the clown.

I've had a GSM host in a Condi anemone, and now some falce percs are hosting in a toadstool.

Since the way clowns host in an anemone is to build up mucus that tricks the anemone into not knowing it is there (so to speak) I'd thing that your torch should be fine given a little time.

I had a clown in a frogspawn that ripped a coral (frogspawn) to shreds and pretty much killed it. Clownfish can be horribly aggressive with their hosts. It depends on the clown it's self. Don't think yours will be an angle all of the time. Just keep an eye on it.
