This is an ongoing issue that I've not been able to figure out. I have two oscellaris clowns which I've had since around April. The first two months I had them they acted completely normal. They would hang out in a large cluster of frogspawn, chase off their tankmates, and come out to grab food during feeding.
Then one day one of the clowns was near a top corner of the tank acting lethargic. It would not eat during feedings and it's health started looking bad. Within a week the second clown began doing the same thing. I never noticed anything on their exterior that would lead me to believe they had ich or some type of parasite. They didn't look good and unfortunately I had to go out of town on a planned vacation. I expected to come back to two dead clownfish. Fortunately when I got back they were still alive. We were in the process of moving, so I setup a quarantine tank at the new house and moved them over there. The tank they were previously in was a 125g with a couple tangs, coral beauty, six line wrasse, and some chromis. None of the other fish ever looked affected.
In quarantine I used a HOB filter, heater, and a powerhead on a 20 gallon long. I noticed one of the clowns had what looked like a fungus on it's mouth for a couple days at one point during their sickness. Due to this I picked up erythromycin from PetSmart, as the box listed the fungus as one of the things it cures. I followed the instructions for dosing it and the clowns started to act more normal. They mostly swam around at the bottom. They recognized when I fed them, but usually waited for the food to come to the bottom. When they'd try to eat the food they had problems getting it in their mount, almost as if they were disoriented...
Since they were still just not acting right I tried treating with prazi-pro also. I followed the instructions and about 5 days later I dosed a second time. They still weren't quite right and disoriented when trying to eat.
I've moved them into a 40 gallon that is temporarily holding some coral. They still appear to know that food is going into the tank, but too disoriented to actually eat... One of them is swimming in a big loop near the surface, the other is staying in a corner going up and down.
Is there something I can do to get them back to normal?
