Clownfish midas blenny aggression

that guy

Hi everyone. Today I tried adding a midas blenny to my 38g breeder. Other stock is a mandarin dragonet, bangaii cardinal, 2 false percs, and one six line wrasse. So I put him in the tank and everything seemed okay. Then the six line tried to nip at him but after that left him alone. The clowns however would not leave him alone and countinuously harrased him for a half hour. After this time I removed him and he is currently in my hang on the back refugium. What do you guys think I should do? Obviously I could return him and the lfs told me they would give store credit but I've waited 3 months for this fish and I really don't want to get rid of him. Also re arranging the rock isin't an option because of the corals in my tank. What is strange is that I added the clowns ,then the six line ,then the mandarine ,then the bangaii and there has been no aggression but now they feel the need to attack this fish. Why?

I have had the same experince to a lesser degree. First, the sixline wrasse believe it or not can be very agressive. With the clowns in the tank things will only be as bad. Sounds like all your fish have claimed there territory. In my experince clowns are also very territorial, they may not be as bad now but as time progresses they get more aggressive. If you really want to keep the midas blenny your going to have to take out some teritorial fish or at least limit it. You can also try adding him at night or just leave the actinics on for awhile. Fish seem to react different with lower lighting when adding a fish. It might help with the acclimation.

Funny you said that. I just put him back in the main tank because the lights were off and the other fish were asleep. I tried searching of people doing this but couldn't find anything. Hopefully everything goes well. I tried feeding him and he gobbled up mysis which was nice. Now I guess all I can do is wait.

Hope it works out for ya. If your still having some agression cut down on the photoperiod for awhile then feed. Or leave the actinics on. This will give him some time to find his territory. good luck

In the morning the clownfish attacked him so I tried removing the male because he was being the more aggressive clownfish. It worked for a bit but then the female took up his job and chased the blenny continuously so I put the male back in and the blenny back in the fuge where he is right now. My clownfish have always been model citizens until now and don't pester any other fish. Am I going to have to bring the fish back to the lfs:headwally:? Could I buy some more rock and try and mess up my aquascape so the clownfish are just as suprised as the blenny?

If I had to bring him back would getting another fish like an orchid dottyback that could stick up for itself be better?
