clownfish pairing

We have an ocellaris standard orange and white can we pair her with a small ocellaris of another color? Or will they just fight to the death?

It really depends.. Color, patterns don't really matter. I used to have a Picasso Perc with a regular Occ, Onyx Perc with Snowflake and currently have Blacker Ice pair.

Most people will advise you to put in the smaller clown first then the bigger clown. IME, It really depends on the bigger female. Even if she is added first, if she accepts the male, she will pair up. If she doesn't, she will reject it, perhaps kill it or just leave him alone.

IMO, it is up to the female.

Oh, if you decide to go with smaller fish first approach, don't wait too long to add the large clown as the smaller one will most likely turn into a female.

We were given a reef tank if we broke it down from a lady who wanted it gone. We got the tank, inherited a clown about 2 1/2 inches long that was in the tank but we really wanted a black clown not the orange so I thought if I could pair up different colors I would give it ago.

Its a hit or miss when pairing clowns. Most females should accept smaller males. Again, colors and patterns don't really matter too much.
