Hello!
So Sunday night, while doing my typical viewing of the tank my wife and I noticed that our clownfish pair (standard orange female and all black male) were nowhere to be found. After some searching in the tank, we found them in the very back corner of the tank, near the bottom, hovering nearly upside down on a rock formation. After further inspection (and a brief moment of panic on my part as I thought they had become ill), there were probably 30-40bright orange eggs hanging from the underside of my rock. Yay!
Fast forward to today, the orange eggs have now turned a silver/brown color and are still being tended to. I realize that this seems to be a very small batch, and assumedly this is the pairs first batch as I have never noticed it before. That being said, I would like to try and rear some of the fry myself because 1. It would just be cool, 2. I think it would be a great project for the wife and kids to really become interested in the tank, 3. and, did I say it would just be cool?
So, I am here looking for advice....again. Assumedly I should let nature take its course with this batch, and hopefully the pair will spawn again in a few weeks, at which point I plan to set-up a 10 gal tank (half-full for 5 gal of water) with lid and led light (one of those tetra tanks they sell at petco), and I plan to order APBreed's CCS system along with their rotifer food and initial culture. I expect this little venture to cost about $100, and while not a lot, certainly not something I just want to throw away - and for the sake of the fish, I want to be successful!
So - can anyone offer advice on the above system? Any comments good/bad? Anything I should know? I have read a ton on the web - but that is partially the problem - there is so much conflicting information, sometimes outdated, that I came here to the real experts:wildone: looking for advice.
Thanks for the help!
