Clownfish suicide

Got to missing one of my OC clowns so I fed hoping to draw her out of hiding since she appeared to be egg bound the past couple of weeks, no luck, I found her dried up next to the tank. I suspect a large damsel I have been attempting to capture for some time now, may have chased her to the jump. It's time to drain the tank to capture the unwanted fish. I'm upset and mad at myself for ever buying a damsel. It is a Neoglyphidodon melas or black damsel fish. Many of us have done this I just wish I knew the things I know now when I was a newbie.

I feel your pain. I had an angler in one of my tanks and used to feed him damsels. My girlfriend HATED him so I got rid of him, because I'm a good boyfriend like that but truth be told I got over his awesomeness and he kinda lost his flare. But I digress. Anywho, there was a damsel in there left over because I couldn't get it out to save my life. I added a pair of picasso clowns thinking the two of them would put him in his place. I was very wrong; one jumped out and the other got chased into the powerhead...

A few things you can do here.

1. Cut the top off a water bottle, rinse with RO water, and crazy glue it in reverse to the inside of the bottom stem. Cut off the top. Put some food in it and place near where your damsel sleeps.
2. Snatch and Grab when the fish is sleeping: Net the fish in open water as it sleeps.
3. Tiny fish hook and food...think the size is 12(but don't quote me here) I actually caught a large damsel like this.

For the tip #1, don´t feed the fishes for 1 or 2 days and put brine shrimp inside the bottle, you´ll catch the little devil in seconds! :D

Yep just starve for a day or two and most fish will go right into a pop bottle trap:) Sorry to hear about your clown:(

if you starve em, i can usually catch them with food suspended in a big net. damsels are brave to swim in and get the food.
