hi, I need advise for my tank: My clownfish has developed bulging eyes and some grey/white spots on his chin and bottom fins. It all started two weeks ago when 4 of my 5 snails died. No effect on the tank coral wise. I have zoas, trumpets, mushrooms, GSP, and frogspawn.
All was fine until a few days ago when the clown was swiming frantically at the top of the tank (his top fin was above the waterline) and the trumpets and zoas werent open. I tested everything and all was fine. The next day i brought a water sample to my LFS and again, all checked perfect. Either way I did a 25 gallon water change. Now, the clown is hanging out at the bottom of the tank on the rock/sand. Its almost liek he's trying to host the rock. Swiming on his side and sitting on the bottom/rockwork.
Today, his eyes started bulge and i noticed some grey/white spots on his bottom fin and chin/gill. It doesnt look like ick in that its not in his gill opening but more on the side of his gill. I have read about popeye but that wouldnt explain the coral/snail reactions.
Tank tests:
25 gallon with Slimskim nano, two powerheads with reefkeeper controlling them. LFS said 'sometimes this just happens' but I don't get this.
Temp: 77
Salinity: 1.027
PH: 7.8-8
Amonia:0
Nitrate: 0
Calcium: 400
I have no idea what to do. I have tested everything and havent added any new animals to the tank.
