clowns about to mate?

I purchased a pair of juvenile snowflakes a few months ago, since then i believe they have formed a bond the male has his little seizure moments to her all the time, and she kind of just keeps swimming. ive witnessed them both cleaning rocks and i have read that they will start cleaning rocks for egg placement, but what i noticed today is that the female is now responding to the males seizures, she is giving him the same seizure reaction right back to him and they kind of both just dance for a little bit for hours. they already sleep in the same area and the female does not chase him around, she actually never did. is this how it typically goes?!

My clowns have not starting laying eggs yet but everything I have read says you need a semi mature female at least (1-2yrs old). Assuming the clowns you bought were under 6 months (common for snowflakes) I wouldn't think yours are getting ready to breed yet, or even that one has fully changed into a female (hence them both dancing).

My female never dances back at the male, she is the obvoius dominant in the tank. Your clowns seem to be still deceiding the dominance chain. Cleaning rocks from what I have read is a sign they may start laying eggs, but yours seem to be still a little immature possibly.

I have also talked to a guy who breeds clowns where I live and he (Pickle) told me that while the female needs to be a bit more mature, a male can start fertilizing as early as 6 months (in his experience).

Again I have not yet had a pair that lays eggs, but this is information I have researched or talked to breeders about, hope it helps.

I'll try and post a picture of my clowns, one is quite larger then the other, I figured one was already female. When I got them they where similar in size, now one has had some growth while the other is still pretty small
