ok maybe someone here with some knowledge of this can help.. these appear to be hatched and somewhat developed babies.. problem is they are still attached to the nest and not moving,, this is their first spawn.. could they have just died when they hatched and never released?. my male is still tending to basically a graveyard.. so should i just take out whats left so they will spawn again? i know this pic is bab but you can tell what they are.. i'm new to this and completely ignorant of the process

Congrats! But raising larvae clownfish is no small task, do read the Fish Breeding forum, and i would highly recommend you to buy the book "Clownfishes" by Joyce D. Wilkerson..

you won't need to remove the dead stuff in order to get them to spawn again...if they get into a rotation (roughly every 11 days to 2 weeks), they'll clean the spot themselves.

if you want to, you could probably suck them up w/ a turkey baster, tho.

if you want to take a stab at raising the babies, it may not hurt to try to get them adjusted to a removable substrate - a chunk of clay tile, or acrylic over the spot where they laid this time would be a good place to start. they may use it, they may move it, or they may move spawning sites...worth a try, tho.

depending on the tank temp can take 7-11 days to hatch. On teh day they hatch use a flashlight after lights out. The larvae are attached to light.

You can also try using a ceramic tile or flower pot.

thanks for the info guys,, i'm not going to attemp to raise any for a while as i have no tome to set up a rearing system right now.. once i have read "clownfishes" and have a good understanding of the steps needed.. i will give it a try

It's kind of cool, mine always seem to have eggs, larvae now. Luckily they are in the front of the tank. I can always tell when they are going to lay as they clean the spot off real well.

Just laid
