CO2 at Lowe's

Check this out guys and gals. I just noticed it today at Lowes. I have no idea if this could be made to suit our needs, but I think it has potential. Its a regulator set up, and they sell the CO2 canisters pre charged at Lowes. The canisters come in two sizes, not sure on the small one I didnt pay too much attention to it. The larger canister is a 20 oz bottle ( 16 oz of CO2 ), and was $36.00.

I would assume it's industrial grade CO2 though? Some of those fills (for pneumatic tools, paint ball, extinguishers, etc) use a lubricant in filling. FWIW.

Thanks for the heads up, I think its worth investigating though.

Hmmmm. A lubricant eh? That doesnt sound good. I dropped by my Lowes but couldnt find this setup. They're supposed to have them on order.

Still interesting.. I just dont want to give up on it! ;)

I'm gonna look at it more closely next time I'm there. Since I'm a contractor it wont be long. I spend more time there than at home. They should give me my own parking spot.

you can get CO2 much cheaper at a welding supply place. a 5 lb bottle usually goes for about $75 and it lasts for 8 months or so on a heavily planted tank with high lights and it costs $10-$15 in most areas for a refill

That`s mighty expensive for just 20 oz`s, plus most reg`s wont screw onto the bottle. You can rent or buy a 20lb co2 tank and have it filled for less than 20 bucks and it will last for a LONG time. Most places charge like $4 a month rent on the bottle.jI have seen co2 injection kits for aquariums at my lfs.It came with a mini reg and the same type bottle you saw at lowes.Cant remember the price though.
