Co2 removal

Hey Randy,

Was wondering If I could make some kind of container to hold somthing that absorbs Co2 would I be able to attach it to my skimmer intake. This way as it absorbs Co2 my tank ph should rise. Correct?

Also, what meadia would work? Kalk paste? Somthing more potent?

This can be made, just as a caclium reactor can be done, so can this. Just hook it to a skimmer intake.

What if all Co2 was removed from the air, would it raise ph to extrodanair levels?

If you removed all CO2, the pH will rise. If you removed all CO2 from the tank that way, the pH would go up until magneisum hdyroxide preciptiated, in the 9's.

Thx, ph 9 would not be possible with zeolite media as the aquarium can still transfer gasses(skimmer intake). Correct?

I'm sure any reasonable use will not drive the pH up that much, and maybe not measurably at all.

I agree with Randy, it may not be much. Remember that CO2 is generated in the water through chemical reactions and breaks down of some chemicals. Also, every time you add a buffer, like baking soda or washing soda some of that ends up as CO2 Remember these are CO2 air filters and deal only with air and have nothing to do with the tank. The best way to remove CO2 from the water is with plants.
