cold water!!!!

I just brought my 3gal pico to school...the water is COLD! like 68 deg cold...i have a shrimp in a seperate bag and hes still doin alright. HOw can I quickly heat up the water...any suggestions?

the heaters goin on...right now ive got bottles of damn hot water floating inside the tank to hopefully help...any other ideas?

the hot water bottles should help combined with the heater. What is the temp at now? Has it gone up any?

got it up, its at 77.2 now...the water bottles made a HUGE difference....as much as 2 degrees in almost 5 min, prob less

its prolly fine for now, but you do need to get it back up to 80 shortly. The heater should be fine on its own i'd think.

Why 80?

because thats what a reef temp should be. Corals do best w/in one or 2 degrees of 80. Most people go right for 80. My tank is always at 80.8 or something like that. I've noticed that when my tank drops down to just 77 (and this happened the last 2 days btw) that my corals start closing up. All i do is bump it back up and they open w/in 10 minutes.

So to me, the question would be why NOT 80?
