So My tank is coming up on about 6 months old and everything is going well except... My LPS open brain seems to have gone from a deep red to a lighter pink. It still eating and extending its polyps but the color is definatly not as deep as it used to be. I have a 30 gallon tank with 240 watts of power compact light. I feed everyotherday with rotifers and cyclopeeze I also spot feed my larger corals. Does anyone know how to get LPS to show more color?

going to need to know some more about your tank. whats the water parameters? are your bulbs 6 months old? where is the coral located in the tank?

Water parameters are perfect plus that really shouldnt have any effect on color... My bulbs are 4 months old and I run them 12 hours a day on a timer... The LPS was on the floor but I moved it to about 8 inches below the lights earlier today. I guess Im not asking for a diagnosis because I don't think anything is wrong. I was more wondering if there is a tried and true way to enhance color.

i'd say if everything was healthy and water conditions great its down to lighting. I have some zooanthids that tottal changed just from moving them away from the light.

i say if you want it to go back to red, take out one bulb and see if that will let it return to its former glory. Less lighting I would think, would help it go back to a deep red. The red brains are from deeper waters, so you may be giving it more light than it is used to.
