I have a volitan lion, mappa puffer, and banana eel in my tank with no problems. There's even a Rhinopias in the tank and there is no issues with aggression or nipping. Your tank may be a bit small for many of the bigger puffers, and the volitan lion may get bit to big as well if want to have few other fish. Many people will say you can't keep lions with triggers and puffers. This is not the case with all of the puffers and triggers. Each species have different attitudes and feeding styles. I have no problems what so ever with these fish together. Regards, Tim

would the russels be a better choice than the volitan ? i love rhinopias but i think my tank is a little small for them. Would a porc puffer do good with a lion?

The Rhinopias would be the least of my concerns if your talking about size. Even if they did get big they rarely move. They still only get about 6-7 inches. A russell's would be a better choice and probally the hardiest of them all. They get a bit smaller than a volitan. Also Lion's don't need as much room as a porcupine because they donactively swim all day like a Porcupine. Porcupine's grow huge and fast and need a lot of swimming room. I made the mistake of getting my mappa puffer as I didn't know they grew at such a fast pace and to the size they do. I should of done more research before I got him. Thankfully I have a few places where he can go when he gets too big. Here's some pics of my fish that you have mentioned. Good Luck With your tank and make sure to take it nice and slow. The fish your considering create a massive amount of waste and you need your biological filtration to catch up with each addition. Regards, Tim

great looking fish .. Yea i know about the waste im picking up aqua c ev 240 soon that will be in before any of the fish, im thinking that should be enough what species of rhinopias is that and how big is he/she

I think Frondosa, but some would say its Eshmeryi. While others would consider Eshmeryi and Frondosa to be the same fish. Its about 5 inches. Thats why I call it a Rhinopias to keep it easy. I use that skimmer and works well. Took quite a while for it to break in. I do alot of water changes and my nitrates generally don't go above 20 ppm, even though I feed pretty heavily, well atleast the angel and the foxface. Regards, Tim

Yeah I have an 8 inch red volitan. A 5 inch porcupine puffer and a 5" stars and strips puffer. A Blue jaw trigger and 26" snowflake moray eel and a 9 inch Harlequin tusk wrasse. My opinion is this is do able for your tank. Obviously from my own personal experience. Have questions ask away

Not to make a judgement forn but what are you going to do when your triggers and puffers and lion are all over a foot in length with more to grow. You can do as you please but I wouldn't recommend people packing fish like this. Many fish are cramped regardless of tank size, but we continue to do it, myself included. But there has to be a sensical line where we don't totally stress this wild caught fish or make them prisoners. Regards, Tim
