Hello everyone, this is my first post to the forums!

So... I am very much thinking about joining the Marine Fish keeping Hobby as I have had a lot of experience with all kinds of animals, from cats to chameleons, but never Marine Fish!

So I've just come to the forums to hear from you, what you think the best starter marine fish are and if you could point me in the direction of some good caresheets/websites that would be FANTASTIC!

I'd LOVE to keep some clownfish as they are just beautiful & I've heard that they could be a good starter fish?! I'm not particularly interested in all the corals at this stage though.

I can't wait to get some replies!
Thanks in advance for anyone who can help :)

Read the stickies on here about setting up and all that

I'd do lots of research before committing

Welcome! It is a great hobby. Can get expensive though and frustrating but worth it. I will say this though, after having dogs and cats in my life as it appears you do have experience with animals, the fish are way harder to take care of if you plan on traveling a lot or even a long weekend here and there! You can board a dog or take them with you and leave cats for days on end. But getting someone to your house and having them take care of your tank the way you would might be hard. It was the one thing that I wish someone would have mentioned to me.

I spent months just reading this forum. Seeing lots of other people get started. Observed what questions they asked, what problems they had, and read all of the responses from experienced reefers. I learned what to do, what not to do, and it gave me a great chance to succeed.

Start off with all the stickies and guides and then just observe. Then start asking some more specific questions once your knowledge grows. This site is really all you need. But there is a lot to learn.

Good luck!
