Concerned about clam

Hello,

I just received my clam shipment from LA, and was surprised to find that there was no heat pack included. The overnight low last night was in the low 30's F, and it's currently 40 deg F outside.

This is the first time I've ordered a clam online, so I'm not sure if that is standard shipping procedure.

The water in the clams' bag is cold to the touch. I am currently floating the bag right now and am crossing my fingers!

Will keep you posted.

Conesus_Kid,

Thank you for contacting us regarding your order. We apologize our shipping facility did not include the heat pack with your order. With the temperature in your state right now there should have been one in the box. Please keep us informed on the status of the clam and we will certainly take care of any questions or concerns that you have. We apologize for any inconvenience.

I slowly acclimated the clam and it's alive at this point. I'm encouraged as it does react when the light it receives is blocked.

I'll let you know if any other concerns arise.

Thank you for your prompt and courteous reply. Your customer service is nothing but top notch!

Well, the clam didn't make it.

It seemed fine when I left for work this morning, but was dead when I got home.

Is the temperature swing a probable cause of death? I did acclimate the clam over 1.5 hours.

Conesus_Kid,

We’re sorry to hear about your clam. Temperature swings can certainly cause stress which may have lead to the death of the clam. Thank you for the concern and patience while extending the acclimation process. Please PM us with your order information and we would be happy to assist you.
