Conch id

I do not have a picture as of yet because the wife borrowed the camera. While cleaning the sand this morning I siphoned up a small half inch or so long conch. I have never done any research on these critters and want to know what to do with the little guy.

Like I said, he is about a half an inch long, maybe a bit smaller the big end is a nice color orange and it fades to a cream color. Is there a place with picture IDs? I have him in a cup at the moment and don't have a fuge to put him in.

You can try www.gastropods.com for an ID, but there are a lot of shells there and you'd need some idea which family you needed to explore. Chances are fairly good you have something other than a conch. However, if it's that size, and was living in the sand, it's probably not a threat to anything in your tank. I'd put it back in.
