Connecting a profilux to 2 different floors

I have my main tank on the first floor. The sump and all the other equipment is in the basement? Is there a way to connect the lights ( which are on the first floor above the tank) to the controller in the basement? Would I have to run a wire down to the basement? I would have to run the wire about 12ft through the floor to the basement?
I would also like to hook my other tank up to the controller. This tank is separate from the other but it is in the basement room with the other equipment? Is it possible to run them as 2 independent systems?

Thanks
Mark

i am also having this problem setting up my tank real soon and very interested in a proliflux controller!! Where would i get extension cables !?!?!

Not sure if this is going to help you but I can tell you what I did to control a tank that is in my living room with all equipment in my garage. First off for my lighting I run the Aqua Illumination LED fixture which is controlled via the RS232 cable off the Profilux. The connection length between the tank and the lighting is about 50'. In order to get this to work I purchased a RS232 cable, 100' worth, with a male and female end. This solved my lighting issue.

I have one analog power bar under my tank and a digital power bar in my garage and this is how I solved the issue of controlling the analog power bar 50' away. They do sell a VSL-5 extension cable that can be purchased here

This might work for you if you are only going 12'. I would have to spend a small fortune in order just to run the line if I went this route so after looking at the wire I went to Lowes to see if I could conjure up something. The controlling wire itself is a 6 cable data line that I was able to pick up 100' for $11. I then picked up the terminals for another $6 and already had the crimping tool. I set out on my way to see if it would work and Eureka it works like a champ. Now you may just want to go the route of the extension cable which should do fine but in my case I went a different route. Here is a pic of my materials.

Nope the tunze cable are Rj11 to DIN connector....

If you can find a 3 pairs RJ11 straigth, then I would says yes, but if your extender is crossover, you might blow something up!
