What if any cooling fans do you recommend? I bought some off ebay and they are crap! they are corroding out and work intermittently.

What do you all use/recommend.

Good computer fans will work fine. I use noctua fans because they are durable and silent. Avoid having them pulling humid air out, it will corrode them faster. Instead blow them inwards.

Depends on how you plan to use these. Are you looking for a clip-on fan or a PC style fan to mount on your canopy?

I've gone through many different types of clip-ons and clamp-ons from Azoo to Zoo Med (no joke either). I've even gone to a couple off-brand 4-fan ones from Ebay. They all pushed air good, but were either loud or unreliable.

Then i went to the Air King from sunlight Supply: http://www.marinedepot.com/Sunlight...g-Sunlight_Supply_Inc-SL2911-FILTACAF-vi.html

This fan moves alot of air and is the quietest of them all. The only negative is that the front screen is metal and will rust in a few months but still works like a charm. Hope this helps.

Sounds like theres really no way around a chiller huh?

How much are you trying to lower your temps by?

I have no problems with my pc-fan rig. I pulled a couple of 120mm fans out of my old gaming box, spliced them with a 12v adapter, and attached them to my light fixture. They blow parallel to that waters surface and I haven't had any rust trouble yet. If I do, I can pick up a pack of 4 new ones for $10 on newegg.

If you're planning to cool down the sump and have space, use the bigger clip on fans from wallmart. They make more noise but you can barely hear them when stand doors are closed and they are much more efficient than PC fans.

Depends on how much you need to cool. Fans are definitely an option. I also run a chiller but it only kicks on during extremely high temps and is used more as a last resort. The fan works quite well for me and I can't even hear it when it is on.

I also use this fan, and the front grill definitely rusts with all the humidity within the sump. Very quiet and works great otherwise. Has two speeds you can set as well.

My temps are sitting around 79 to 80 degrees; I just want to lower them by a few degrees.
