Copper/bronze spoon a problem?

I have been losing some corals in my tank and am looking around for the answers. This might be a stupid question but I want to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong. When I measure out the kalk to use in my topoff, I use a copper/bronze (I cant tell which) teaspoon. I never get the spoon wet. Is this dangerous?

It's probably not a problem if it stays dry, but you might as well buy a cheap plastic spoon or container. Are you using tap water? What corals? New or old ones?

Thanks Randy

I figured it probably wouldnt be a problem, but I'll get a plastic one to be safe. I am guilty of using tap - RODI is next on my list of upgrades. My local water is relatively good though (140 TDS).

I'm losing SPS corals, acropora and montipora. Some are flourishing though. Here is a thread about my current problems if you feel like taking a look: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=741269&perpage=25&pagenumber=1
