Copper on equipment?

If I treat my hospital tank (which is BB with only PVC pieces in it for comfort) with copper... do I have to worry about putting the powerheads into my reef tank later?

I'll obviously wash (in vinegar) and wash and then dry it before putting into my DT.

Will there be any residual copper?

Are you using copper / citric acid, or one of the amine-based coppers? The former may bind up tighter to any calcium compounds (scale) that might be on the powerheads. Even then, soaking them dissasembled in white vinegar overnight, and then rinsing them well in tap water should work fine. To be extra sure, do it a second time, but then measure the vinegar rinse with your copper test kit....it should read zero.

I don't have anything yet.. going to help a fish with ich... I'll probably be using the copper treatment and not the amine-based ones.
