copperband butterfly dead

so i got a call from my girlfriend and was told that my copperband was stuck to a powerhead, so i had her pull it off and told her to keep an eye on it,she said it was swimming around but i had a feeling it would die because every fish ive ever had do that has died. So its been about 3 hours and hes dead.Why do they have to do that

Sorry for the lost. I have a CBB too and they are beautiful fish.

Could by cyanide poisoning, internal parasites, etc.

Why did you pull it off. Why not just unplug the powerhead?

That is true. But the CBB was probably on its last legs already or the powerhead would have not effect.

I lost a couple yellow tangs to power heads. They had that flat body shape and were attracted to the algae at the intake and FOOOOMMP! theyd get sucked on and couldnt get off. I got rid of those heads and replaced tham with koralias. Now it can never happen...if it does the fish was already dead.

Sorry for your loss, I also have a CBB and think they are beautiful fish. They can somethimes be tough to keep.

1+ Ive never kept one of these fish, but from what I hear they are not exactly easy to keep. What were you feeding it and how often was it getting fed?

I've tried a few of those myself, but as mentioned they're a real challenge to get acclimated to captivity. The ones I tried never really ate, regardless of how much many types of food I tried. I also agree with what others have said; if it got stuck on a powerhead, it was near death to begin with.

i just got him to eat mysis shrimp and feed them every 2 days, as far as why i didnt get him off i was at work and also had no idea how long he was on there for, my gf took him off and said he was swimming around but after a couple hours died
