Copperband butterfly eye issue

I have a CBB in quarantine and he's developed an eye issue. Anyone have any thoughts about what it might be and the best course of action?

It looks like refered to as popeye. IThis looks a little unusual though because it's so big. It is still possible, especially since it only affects one eye. If it is it's usually caused by some kind of trauma. This will usually heal itself. How long have you had the fish? Somtimes their eye gets scratched netting them or during shipping.

Since he is in quarantine see if you can't get a little tetracyclene into his water. Google Popeye in marine fish for more info. Don't put the teracyclene in an established tank as it will kill off your good bacteria!! Just keep an eye on him (pardon the pun). He should be ok but if he gets worse or his belly starts to swell it may be something else. Not sure about dosage, depends on how big the tank is.

Hope this helps

Neil

Thanks for the reply Neilfox. I actually just finished up a 4 day round of erythromycin. The thing actually fell off today while I was at work. The outer part of the eye seems like it has a hole exposing the eyeball to the water. I'll try and get a picture of it, only time will tell but hopfully we are on the mend now.
