allright, i have heard mixed opinions on these.. are they reef safe?? it seems like alot of people have them in reefs but i have also heard they will nip at corals... any corals in particular they will nip at?? or will they just go after any coral? or just after corals when they arent being fed enough?? thanks..

well i guess a better way to ask it is, do they take enough coral where i would notice it? i really like the look of them but i dont want to run into problems in the aspect of losing coral.

they will destroy feather dusters, other then that mine never bothered my corals that much at all, they do like to pick at things, but mostly looking for meaty things in crevases. so IMO yes mine was reef safe, just keep em well fed and u should be fine

yeah the only thing a CBB would mess with in your tube worms/feather dusters. Otherwise they arent going to eat your corals. I absolutely love mine to death.

I'm getting one so it can get rid of my feather dusters. No, not any pretty ones but those little ones with the white fans that spread like a bad STD.

I hope it has a good appetite.

I've tried several, and none of them bothered anything INCLUDING my feather duster, however the damned things were so picky I couldn't get them to eat well enough to avoid starvation. That is, until the last one....got him from LiveAquari.com, he ate mysis shrimp like they were going out of style...and then my tank got the plague (velvet) and he died. AAARRGGHHHH!!!!!

PS: I've heard Pyramid Butterflies are reef safe as well...

WOW, that's too bad XD sorry to hear that

I really like my long nose BF. Very active fish. He hasn't bothered anything in my tank but tubeworms

IMO they are reef safe, Mine never ate or nipped any corals. He did destroy all of my tiny feather dusters. Small price to pay.

allright cool, once i get my new tank up and running and its all cycled and ready to go it will be one of my additions hopefully :) i didnt plan on keeping any feather dusters anyway, allthough they are cool i would rather have a copperban butterfly

and it looks as if they are somewhat delicate to water perimeters or are they pretty hardy?? i should be able to keep pretty level water perimeters unless i get hit by some disease..

I've had mine for 8 mos and it's never touched a coral, though it eliminated all small or new aiptasia. (I had to Joe's Juice the big established aiptasia - it didn't want them at all) I have a variety of soft and every other coral and 2 large feather-dusters and a coco worm that seem to be fine. Make sure it eats frozen at the store before you bring it home - I was too impatient on my first try and it never did eat, but second time I was wiser.

Good to know that the CBB's from Live Aquaria ate mysis because I just ordered a large one this week.
