Coral appearance and time of day

Do your corals have periods during the day where they go from looking happy to flat or vise versa , mainly in regards to ramping up or down of lights.

Corals tend to open or close depending on the amount of light they are receiving. If they always seem to be stretching for the lights no matter how high it goes then it probably isn't enough for them. If they don't open they are getting too much and are protecting their zoothanthellae. You have to determine how your corals are reacting to the amount of light you're giving them.

I know with mines when my whites lights go off, the corals shrink a little. Also with corals anything can irritated them making them close-up or shrink. For example I have a Lawnmower blenny and a Tang that likes to pick on some LPS corals which makes them close-up.
