Coral b vs flameback vs cherub angel

Thinking of one of the Agels for a 180 reef. Your thoughts are appreciated. Thank you

flameback and cherub angelfish are basically the same fish, but with a different paint job. they can be a bully, but in a 180 they should be fine. a coral beauty should also be fine, they are pretty peaceful, but might nip at corals.

hope this helps.

Angelfish bullying is focused mainly on congenerics. In a 180 they should be fine. Any Centropyge species may nip at coral.

I got a flame angel and flameback angel in a 135ga and they're both great citizens. They do occasionally nip on ZOA's but never cause harm to them, basically just a taste test :)

*Reef safe with caution in my book.

YMMV but I had a flameback in my 90G mixed reef, while I never had an issue with other fish, it definitely liked to nip at the more fleshy LPS like open brains, Lobo etc.. so much so that they would no longer fully open. I had to to take the angel back (which wasn't easy to catch BTW).

Just make sure to have plenty of rocks for them to pick on, algae sheets, and feed often. Doing that has kept aggression and coral munching at bay for me but still is not a guarantee. Currently I've got a flame, CB, and bicolor in my 180.

Over the years I have kept Potter's, Coral Beauty, Flameback, Cherub, Flame, and I currently have a Bicolor( hey, I like dwarf Angels) . Through my experience and like Jason2459 says...as long as they are kept well fed with algae they will be fine. Keeping them well fed IMO drastically reduces there urge to nip at corals. I never had issues with any of mine chowing on corals but every fish is different. With your size tank you should be ok keeping 1 or 2 even. I do though recommend not keeping a pair of DA in a tank smaller than 100 gallons but there are others on here who have had good success with doing it. Again, every DA is different. My bicolor is no problem at all in my tank and IMO is the most colorful of them all. I will say this though about him...he doesn't take too kindly to other fish with similar coloration as his but with time he has cooled down. As long as your tank has plenty of rock work with well established algae growth then you can keep whichever species you decide on. Hope this helps.
