I am still in the process of stocking my 75 gal reef tank and I realy like the look of the coral banded shrimp but would it be ok with 3 peppermint shrimp that I already have?? If not is there another cool looking shrimp that I could put with the peppermint shrimp ??

Thanks
Patrick

I've got peppermints and cleaners in with a coral banded. The coral banded shrimp chases the others some times, but he has never caught one. Mostly they all just stay to themselves. Maybe this is because my tanks is 100 gallons (5 feet long) so there is plenty of room for them to have there own "turf".

If it was a small tank, I don't think that I would want a coral banded shrimp in with other kinds.

So, coral band don't mix with other shrimp? I have a 20G with coral band, but since he hides in the back all the time, I was thinking of getting a blood red fire red or a scarlet skunk cleaner. Would they work?

I have had a fairly large coral banded for 5 years and every time I introduce a cleaner shrimp, peppermint shrimp or any shrimp they "mysteriously" disappear after a few weeks. My only fish are tangs so there are no other predators that would explain the loss. Pretty circumstantial and would not hold up in court, but I know!

CBS actually will chase any shrimp but it's too slow to get them. I have a very aggressive and big one that's 3yrs old in my tank, but my cleaners and blood one were never afraid of him since he's is too lazy to chase after them.

I've got 5 skunks and a (Blood Red)Flame Shrimp with them. I've had them together for more than a year. They don't compete or fight. The Flame justs stays to himself. It took him awhile to loosen up and quit hiding, but now he comes out regulary.

BTW, this is in a 105g. with lots of rocks and coral.

I purchased a fish, coral, invert package, and got a CBS , I wasn't aware that they would eat smaller shrimp, so I put him in my 58g cube, which already had a peppermint shrimp....So far, after a little over a month, they are both still there....The coral banded is VERY cool looking, but neither of them come out til lights go off. I watch them at night with my flashlight....one's normally on top of the rock, and the other is in and underneath it. HTH!
