You can pay to be a member and that gets you access to the members only area and lets you participate in group buys, club events, etc., but you don't have to be member to access the rest of the site.
Thats what it looked like, but I was confused as to why he whould have pasted the link if they were sold. I never heard from him, so I figured they were gone.
