Coral glue

I bought a tube of black coral glue at danco on saturday. I had seen it advertised before online, and several large etailers carry it. It isn't cheap, but when you consider it is a full ounce of cyanoacrylate vs the .11oz you get in the tubes, the price is actually cheap, or reasonable depending on the glue you use. The stuff dan had is the black version, when it dries it looks pretty good.

Anyway, I broke out the tube for an emergency frag session, and was pleased with it. The stuff is a little runnier than regular superglue gel, but all you have to do is let the frag sit on the glue a few seconds and then set it into the water for a minute for it to set. I did learn you have to apply it out of the water though, and don't get it on your hands. Trust me on this, you will have a stain on your hands for a couple of days if you are not careful.

I think I will keep this stuff around for a majority of my fragging, but will keep some plane ole superglue gel for a backup.

Hobby Oasis has xtra thick gel in a 2oz bottle for $9.99 & it's full to the top unlike the tubes which are 1/2 empty. As far liquid glues, this is best I have found, IMO. It sets in 20 seconds. Here's a little Tech tip..... any liquid glue kept in your freezer will be come even thicker

I have to agree with you Seadevil (can you believe that). the extra thick hobby glue is cheaper, easier to use and yes put it in the freezer.

Where is hobby oasis? I have been looking for a larger size than the standard .11oz tubes. The excess coral glue seems to sink into the rock. But, 9.99 for 2oz is hard to beat.

There's one right around the corner from me by the Philly connection.

Oh my, now I'm in agreement with Mike, any hobby shop will have it, it's called Maxi - Cure. They have the regular & the Xtra thick, get the xtra thick

aquamend and krazyglue gel. I got it down to a science so you cant even see the aquamend. Aquamend is also great for bonding liverock

Well, brunswick is lacking a hobby shop, so I will have to pick some up when I head back down to jax. Thanks for the heads up.
