can you id this coral from a friend of mines tank.

The favia dips down in the mouth whereas diploastrea comes to a domed point. They look quite a bit different when you see them in person.

Anyway, I think they both dip down in the pictures :D I can't see what you are seeing I guess, it just show how controversial it could be to ID corals unless you kill them :D
 
If you look in COTW books, some of the other pictures show the mouth on the Laxa its a little wider, the corallites don't have uniform shape, and are flatter where the edges meet whereas the diplo has no space between the corallites, more dome shaped, and a small, tight mouth.

Not arguing of course just avoiding work and like discussing the particulars of IDing corals. hehe
