Hi. I just posted this in another topic. Think it was the wrong one. Sorry. I'm new to this (posting not reef keeping). Anyhow, can anyone ID this? Thank you.

Not an SPS at all! LPS actually...

This is a 'hero tubinaria' or Tubinaria heronensis Great find!

Google them, reef builders just had a article out about them.

I just got myself a piece, they are a pricy coral at the moment. Some are selling them for as much as $25 per polyp!

Holy s**t. Thank you Saltywater. I googled it and you are spot on!!! It's rare!! Like really rare. I feel a sense of responsibility with this one. Any chance of posting a pic of yours? What are you doing for placement and flow?

Yep, Tubinaria are all LPS. Its the same genus as the scroll corals and pagoda cups.

So far I have found low light holds the green color of my frag the best. The polyps open up at night after blue lights are off, they have clear tentacle like polyps. I have only spot fed it a hand full of times, I'm guessing it picks up on other stuff I broadcast feed too, which is powdered foods or frozen cyclops, rotifer, and plankton. My tank is kinda high flow everywhere so I put it at the bottom blocked by some larger corals for the moment, I'll be finding a more permenant spot eventually. I read they are found near euphyllia and lobos in the wild, so I'm guessing they like that mid-low flow where they can feed on leftovers and fish poop settling in the ocean.
