It's an unhappy Acan lord if it looks like that most of the time, they're supposed to be open and full instead of closed and retracted.

Every polyp on it should look like this, there shouldn't be any skeleton or skin between the polyps showing:


 
That pic was taken the week I got it from someone divesting themselves of everything in his tank after an algae bloom and crash. Here it is today (I guess about 7 weeks later). I seriously didn't even realize how bad it looked when I got it (until it was pointed out).

I think it looks healthier? I make sure to target feed a few times a week.

Don't know if it looks that pale or if it's just the picture, but it may be a little bleached. It looks very white. I would move it into a little more shade and see how it does.
 
bleaching happens from more things than just light. Stress, starvation, etc. Be careful moving it away from its primary food source... light!
