Coral ID

Hi,
I was given this"coral" that is brought directly from mediteranean sea. Can someone ID it please? Never saw something similar (it looks like very densed purple coralline algea) no polyps are visable on it either. But has this purple skeleton. Thanks

I think it is just referred to as plating coralline algae, at least thats what I have always thought it is. I also have a purple one that came out of nowhere.

Blue Scroll Algae. Its a decorative macroalgae that calcifies. Good score on that one. They're fairly desirable in the community. Hint hint.

Wow thanks Eric. That's exactly like the ones I have. Blue scroll macro algae, never geared or saw something similar except for plating coralline algae.
