Would anyone know what kind of coral this is in the center? I was told it is a leather but I have never seen a leather like this?

Someone is going to have to help you be more specific, but it looks like a candycane to me.

...or would you be referring to small leather in the background? It is a leather, but not sure on what type. It has no polyp extension, so it does not look happy.
