Coral Pests?

Here are a few photos of my Green Button Polyps/Zoanthids.

they have been perfect.... til now.

I noticed one of the polyps not opening. i take a closer look and i see a little white bug looking thing sticking out of the polyp.

is it a bug burrowing into the polyp head?
Is it eating a copepod?

ALSO under neath there is a hard stony growth. like a tube. and every so often a long white stringy tentacle or possible a stinger comes out and waves around.

It started small, it really just appeared to be a corralline algae spot, but now its getting longer and seems to be doing something?

fantastic! LOL

what do I do now?

I smash any I can reach with forceps when I have extra time and feel like smashing something. ;) They produce an unsightly web to collect food that can irritate corals. However, for the most part they're not anything to freak out over or become overly concerned with. Given enough food in the water column they will reproduce quite well.

You could try putting a small dab of super glue gel over the tip of that Vermetid snail. This should seal it shut and cause the snail to die. As far as that little white bug goes, until you know exactly what it is, you might want to siphon it out just to be safe.

well it hasnt seemed to affect the button plyps, so i will keep an eye on it. as far as the bug, i don't want to damage the polyp if it is latched on tight ya know?

ill try to siphon it now and let u know what happens LOL
