I just bought some no zoas which came on the standard coral plugs well I have some big flat rocks I want the zoas to grow on but there are no holes for the plugs to fit in. Does anyone have any placement ideas. Or know how to get the zoas off the plugs or possibly cut the bottom of the plug off? Any ideas will help

I use a pair of linesmen pliers to snip off the stem of the plug. just have a good hold on the frag disk as it will want to fly when you make it through.

I cut the stems off too. Once the plug is somewhat flat, it's much easier to attach them to the rock structure with a little epoxy or super glue. It's only a matter of time before the zoanthids completely overgrow the plug and continue on.

Get a thin chisel and hammer and scrape the zoas off the plug making sure to grab the small section of the plug they are attached to with them. It's pretty soft stuff if it's not the ceramic ones and you can dig right into it with a good sharp chisel. I use small woodworking chisels (thin type) to chisel them off and glue them onto shelf rock.

You can also cut the plug up around the zoas with bone cutters, glue to rocks then smooth it around with 2 part epoxy so it looks natural. You can also Use a piece of rubble when the epoxy is soft to make imprints to expand on the natural look but you gotta work fast.
