Coral Propagation Tank

I need ideas on equipment for a coral propagation tank. Ofcourse I need the tank, lights and ro/di water. What about a protein skimmer, fuge, ls or lr? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Many people "hook" their propagation tank with their display tank, including the store I work at. This way the corals do not need to be acclimated between tanks and frag processes, also it will provide stability in the water quality and lastly you won't need to purchase a whole other skimmer, heater, chiller,...etc. Typical set up is to have the overflow of the main tank drain into the propagation tank first, and then drain to the sump from propagation tank. Another set up is to share a sump with the display tank.

Very interesting idea. My only problem is I wold have too much equipment in my dining room. I will have to think about this some more. It is a good idea and I like that I can utilize my current equipment, it is tough since my display is where everbody can see it. Do you manage a pet store/fish store?

Anyone else have any ideas?

I run my prop tank as a separate system. Given I have no fish in there, no `extra livestock' - there's not such a nutrient load on this tank and I run it skimmerless. [as cheap as possible]

Depending on situation, this is a good or bad idea - there's benefits [nice if main tank is having problems, but more upkeep and one more tank to watch over].
