Coral Reconstructive Surgery

I accidentally broke a large piece off of my purple monti that I had over the last year been growing into a nice spiral. I did not want to start a new colony with the frag and really wanted to keep the aesthetic of the main colony.
The piece was triangular and broke off at its narrow end about 3-4 cm across but at its widest was easily 12-15 cm. Being a thin flat coral, directly end to end gluing this did not hold even with the aquamend superglue combo method.
I took a piece of plastic coated wire (I had tested it before in my reef with no obvious ill effects and it's a small 2 cm piece) molded it to the the shape of the pieces and glued half the length of it onto the main colony. Then using the combo method glued the broken piece onto the wire and the main colony.
The result looked great and now that it's grown together again you really cannot tell that it was ever broken.
I'll post pics later.

I'd love to see it. I've broken lots of stuff here and there too. but the growth patterns allowed them to be shoved back into place to grow back together.
