Coral Trouble - Salinity

Hello -

Yesterday we changed the water (due to conditions not being as ideal for the tangs as they should) and the salinity of the water changed from 1.010 to 1.022 in the course of 24 hours.

The coral seem super upset by this - is the change enough to kill them? They have been in shock now for about 12 hours.

Blue hippo tang, yellow tang, snail, and hermit crabs are all doing fabulous--just the coral seem upset with the sudden change.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Thanks in advance!

That big of a jump is likely to be a shock. But I'm not sure if backing it down again would help, as any damage has likely been done already. I've adjusted from 1.024 to 1.026 before, but that's the largest jump I've made. Good luck!

They are definitely shocked. Why the hyposalinity? If mine goes down to 1.023-1.024 I think it is on my low end. Normally my tank is 1.026.
