Muriatic acid doesn't harm silicone. I have used it on many tanks. Try not to leave the acid bath too long.

how long it to long? This stuff is pretty thick! its a 180 gal tank. Do I need to fill the whole tank up or can i just put it on the side i want done? Like if I want and end panel done can I just put it on an end and put in some muriatic and some water? How much would you put in using that method? I am guessing its safe on the plastic overflow boxes right?

let is sit for a day, i used 14.1 M HCl to clean all my tanks and no problem (highest concentration avil)
