I see a thin layer of brown algae (or maybe diatoms - I dunno) on my Porites and Leather Coral (which refuses to open up the past week). How can I reove this layer of brown algae without damaging the corals?
Turkey baster or toothbrush (gently) would be the best way to remove the algae. I would say the fact the the algae is there in the first place is probably a sign of too little flow around the corals.
