Still a lil ****ed about loosing a fav fish but on the other hand.... I've been dosing every other day with magnesium strotium iodine and lots of calcium since setting up my new tank. I've got shrooms splitting, zoas multiplying, lps growing. Wish I would have done this a year ago!! Anybody use any other good stuff that I'm missing out on? Let me know

I use iodine (sparingly), Mg, Strontium like you said. Other than that I am dependent on a strict maintenance routine to replace my other trace elements. I have a calcium reactor that does calcium and ALK. Be careful with your dosing of strontium, Ca, and Mg alone as you can throw your ALK way out of line which can cause a crash. All three lower ALK.

Actually, you probably already know that and just forgot to mention your dosing of it.

Alkalinity confuses me so I just avoid it. I reAlly didn't know it was such an important piece of the puzzle. Kinda thought for whatever reason if ph was in range alk was stable. Looks like it's research time. Sometimes I get a reminder that I'm still a rookie. Thanks for the heads up Eugene.

Like Eugene stated doing routine maintenane/testing is key. Rookie or not. Balance. Nothing in this hobby is a quick fix.
