Corals growing

Hey guys, quick question, at the last frag swap I was at, I picked up some safecraker zoa's. They have been growing like mad, and are starting to cover other rocks with other corals on them.. whats the best way to keep them from getting out of control? Keep the rock they are currently on away from (or not touching) other rocks? I will be moving the rocks they are on in the near future, so I can do whats necessary...
Also, how do I get them off the other rocks I don't want them on? Is there a way to get them off the rock and onto some rubble so I can give them to people who want them? Thanks

Keeping the rock isolated for spreading things like this (like green star polyp and xenia) is the only answer. For recovering your other rocks, you may be able to scrape their base off the rock they are on and move the zoos to a different spot until they reattach. A cup of rubble, maybe with some mesh over it so they don't blow away, may work for reattaching. Luckily, I don't think that zoos are like xenia or GSP such that if you leave a tiny bit they'll grow back.

Or, if it's a small area, chip off the area of rock, or break the piece of rock.

As mentioned, chipping them off with an old wood chisel works well. Most rock is softer than you think. If you're prone to allergic reactions you may want to wear gloves. Spreading softies like this is why some folks grow them on top of the sand bed. Makes controllingthem a snap.

Great info guys, at least I will know what to do when I pull that part of the rock formation apart. Which should be in a week or two. I'll be wearing gloves for sure. I don't like the taste of pennies. ;)
