Corals in cool water with flourescents?

Hello!

I was just wondering what corals can be kept (and will thrive) under NO flourescents, and can withstand temperatures of ~72*F? I have a single red mushroom with purple spots I would like to add to the tank. Do yellow polyps sting seahorses?

Sorry you haven't gotten responses to this, Brock. When I tried green mushrooms under NO lights they faded drastically.

I'd also like to know what can be kept, since I'm definetly not running halides on my horse tank (my electric bill is insane with my 90gal reef). What about macro algaes? xenia?

What if we are running a temperate tank? I placed 2 mushroom frags in the tank, and they are doing fine, and growing back quite quickly. They haven't faded whatsoever.

I would stay away from yellow polyps. From my experience, they actually require quite a bit of light. You might be better off with gorgonians and sun polyps, but you'll have to feed them. I don't know if they can handle 72F though; would probably be more happpy at 75F.
